Winner Takes All : Snake Wins

Our very first Winner Takes All 9 Ball Event on Friday evening was won by one of the pre-tournament favourites, “Snake” Vesa Kulmala from Finland.

The Double Elimination tournament was for players handicapped up to A+10, and as one of the highest ranked, he was many peoples idea of the winner.

He didn’t have things all his own way though, with close fought victories over several of his opponents en route to the final, where he met Tong Songyouth Wattanasagonpunt from Bangkok.

The match was a Race to 8, and Tong got off to the best possible start, flying out of the traps to take a 3-0 lead.

Snake didn’t buckle though, finding his form to win six consecutive racks and take control of the match, before eventually running out a comfortable winner by 8 racks to 4.

Although the tournament was advertised as “Winner Takes All”, we prefer the idea of paying out both finalists, so our champion Snake pocketed 20000 baht, and Tong took home 6000 as consolation.

Champion : Snake (A+10) – 20000 baht.
Runner-Up : Tong (A+9) – 6000 baht.

The Player Auction created an extra Prize Pot of 22200 baht, and was won by American Brian Presson.

He paid the top price of the night at 3000 baht for our winner, and they shared the 1st Payout of 11200.

1st (50%) : Brian (Snake) – 11200 baht.
2nd (30%) : Adam Lux (Tong) – 7000 baht.
3rd (20%) : Tommy Fineman (Himself) – 4000 baht.

We would like to thank everyone for taking part in this first edition of our Winner Takes All, which proved to be a great success.

Watch this space for similar events in the very near future, for other handicap levels.
