THURSDAY 9 BALL – 11th JANUARY : ABDULAH WINS.
Thursday’s 9 Ball Competition saw victory for Abdulah Ahmad from Qatar.
He played well above his handicap level all evening to win six consecutive matches and pocket the 1st Prize of 6000 baht.
33 players from 15 different countries took their chance this week, and in the final Abdulah defeated Beni Walthard from Switzerland by 5 racks to 2 (race 5-4) to lift the trophy.
Beni also played well on the evening to reach the final, before coming up just short against Abdulah, and collected 3500 baht as Runner-Up.
His handicap also moves up to A+3 as a result.
Go Hongyok from Thailand and Tom Greenall from England both reached the semi-finals, taking home 1500 baht each.
Champion : Abdulah (A+3) – 6000 baht.
Runner-Up : Beni (A+2) – 3500 baht.
Semi-finals : Go (A+3) and Tom (A+2) – 1500 baht each.
Quarter-finals : Charlie Ayres (A+6), Erik Makitalo (A+6), Harry Arefjell (A+4) and Dmitry Cherkesov (A+1) – 500 baht each.
The Player Auction Pot totalled 37700 baht and was won for the 2nd consecutive competition by Peter Nielsen from Denmark.
He had to pay 1500 baht to buy Abdulah, but the gamble paid off as he received the 1st Payout of 11300.
1st (30%) : Peter (Abdulah) – 11300 baht.
2nd (22%) : Olly Downey (Beni) – 8400 baht.
Equal 3rd (12%) : Peter (Tom) and Olly (Go) – 4600 each.
Equal 5th (6%) : Charlie (Himself), Billy Hayes (Erik), Scott (Harry) and Hannu (Dmitry) – 2200 baht each.
