Sun 11-03 : Dima Wins


Sunday’s 9 Ball Competition saw one of our regular players over the last year win for the very first time.

Dima Sam from Russia, playing here for the 41st time, and in his fourth final over all, finally lifted the trophy and claimed the 1st Prize of 5500 baht.

He went one better than his 2nd Place finish three days earlier, comfortably beating his friend Gerhard Schebler from Germany in the final by 5 racks to 0 (race 5-4).

Gerhard followed on from his good showing in our Grand Final the previous day to reach his second final in the space of 24 hours, but once again had to settle for the Runners-Up spot and 3000 baht.
His handicap now moves up to A+3 as a result.

Brian Seib from Canada and Nong Jaruawan Pocza from Thailand both reached the semi-finals, taking home 1500 baht each.

Champion : Dima (A+3) – 5500 baht.
Runner-Up : Gerhard (A+2) – 3000 baht.
Semi-finals : Brian S (A+2) and Nong (A+) – 1500 baht each.
Quarter-finals : Joel Wenger (A+14), Tommy Fineman (A+8), Tom Rooney (A+8), and Mike Berezovsky (A+8) – 500 baht each.

The Player Auction Prize Pot totaled 34500 baht, and was won by Dima’s friend, Christian Skoglund from Sweden.

He paid the top price of the evening of 1800 baht for Dima, but the gamble paid off as he bagged the 1st Payout of 10500.

1st (30%) : Christian (Dima 1800) – 10500 baht.
2nd (22%) : Craig Jones (Gerhard 1100) – 7600 baht.
Equal 3rd (12%) : Brian S (Himself 1600) and Russell (Nong 700) – 4200 baht each.
Equal 5th (6%) : Bruno Bolliger (Joel 1400), Tommy (Himself 1000), Russell (Tom R 1200), and Craig (Mike B 1400) – 2000 baht each.
